Short answer
Washing a house in Naperville is a low-pressure job: siding gets a cleaner and a gentle rinse, while high pressure is kept for concrete and pavers. Angi's published planning ranges run $100 to $720 to pressure wash a house and $100 to $200 for a deck or patio.
Soft washing siding, pressure washing concrete
Most of what darkens a house is organic: mildew, algae and pollen film. A cleaner kills and loosens it, and a low-pressure rinse carries it off without driving water up behind vinyl laps.
Concrete can take far more pressure, and a surface cleaner keeps a driveway from drying in stripes. When a wash comes before an exterior repaint, the siding gets time to dry out fully before primer.

What every house wash includes
Unless we agree otherwise at the walk-through, a wash covers:
- Plants wetted, covered and rinsed again afterward
- Outlets, fixtures and windows checked and protected
- Cleaner matched to siding, wood or concrete
- Low-pressure rinse working from top to bottom
- Soffits and gutter faces cleaned with the walls
- A walk-around with you once surfaces dry
House washing
Vinyl, aluminum, fiber cement and painted wood siding all clean up best with a soft wash: a mildewcide cleaner applied at low pressure, a few minutes of dwell time and a gentle rinse from the top down. High pressure aimed at siding pushes water behind laps and around windows, chalks off sound paint and can leave wand marks that show for years. Before any water goes near the house, we cover plants, close windows and check outlets and light fixtures. Soffits and the outside face of the gutters are cleaned on the same pass.
Deck and fence washing
Wood is the easiest surface to damage with a washer. Too much pressure or a narrow tip raises the grain, leaves wand marks and furs the surface so it looks worse once it dries. We use a deck cleaner to loosen mildew and gray fibers, then rinse with a wide fan tip held at a steady distance, moving along the boards. If the deck or fence is getting stain afterward, a brightener follows the wash, and the wood dries for at least a day before any finish goes on.

Driveways and patios
Concrete driveways, walks and patios collect tire marks, algae and rust from sprinklers, and paver joints fill with dirt and weeds. We pretreat stained areas, then run a rotary surface cleaner across the slab so it dries evenly instead of in wand-width stripes. Edges, steps and spots near the house get a hand wand. Oil and rust stains often lighten but may not vanish completely, so we will tell you up front which ones to expect back. Rinse water is steered away from beds and the lawn edge wherever possible.

Washing ahead of paint in Brook Crossing and around Naperville
A wash is often day one of an exterior repaint, and the weather sets the pace after that. Benjamin Moore's technical sheet for Aura Exterior satin rules out application when the air or the surface sits under 40°F, gives its 4-hour recoat only at 77°F with 50% humidity, and notes that cool, damp conditions slow drying. In Brook Crossing, off 95th Street, siding washed on a damp spring morning may not be ready for primer until the next day.
A wash day, start to finish
- Prep. Windows closed, plants wetted and covered, furniture moved off the deck.
- Pretreat. Cleaner applied to mildew, algae and stains and left to dwell.
- Wash. Low pressure on siding, surface cleaner on concrete, fan tip on wood.
- Rinse. Every surface flushed from the top down, plants rinsed again.
- Dry-out. Surfaces left to dry before any paint or stain is scheduled.
Published house and patio washing ranges
Angi publishes these as planning ranges, and they are not our price for your house.
| Job | Typical range | Unit | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| House pressure washing | $100 to $720 | total | Angi |
| Deck or patio pressure washing | $100 to $200 | total | Angi |
What moves the price
- Siding area and number of stories
- Heavy mildew or algae that needs pretreating
- Deck, fence or driveway added to the house
- Rust, oil or sprinkler stains on concrete
- Access around landscaping and steep grades
Soft wash or pressure wash: which surface gets which
The cleaner does most of the work on siding, and pressure is saved for surfaces that can take it.
| Surface | Method | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Vinyl and aluminum siding | Soft wash, low-pressure rinse | Keeps water out from behind laps |
| Decks and fences | Deck cleaner and a wide fan tip | Avoids raised grain and wand marks |
| Concrete and pavers | Pressure with a surface cleaner | Even results with no stripes |
